Children are the embodiment of innocence. They are pure and full of potential. With the involvement of 2 young girls in the process of this painting, I wanted to capture a child's spirit in the careless and expressive strokes, accompanied by the vulnerable and powerless gaze of a young boy in the foreground.
Children deserve a safe sanctuary to grow and thrive but unfortunately some suffer abuse even in their own homes. Not all cries can be heard, not all wounds are visible and all of us have a part to play towards child protection. I hope this painting acknowledges that.
